What are the best things about having (re)joined the Claret team?
It’s been great to see how much the venture debt landscape has grown over the last five years. The companies we now fund are more diverse across sector, scale and growth.
The fund team has also grown considerably since I left in 2016. I’ve particularly enjoyed meeting the new team members, as well as catching up with the old ones.
What are you most excited about going into next year?
Claret’s 2022 Portfolio Day. This is our annual event where we invite all our portfolio companies as well as our network of VCs & key service providers!
Having worked for start-ups & scale-ups, I’ve learnt how useful this day is for our portfolio companies.
What makes a great portfolio company?
We focus on understanding how a company is performing, what are its key risks and how we can help.
As a result below are some of the key things we like to see.
- Timely financial reporting with key metrics for that business.
- Regular board updates highlighting opportunities & risks.
- CEOs & CFOs who are happy to pick up the phone & ask for help.
